Friday Night Drinks With Gordon
Gordon held court at Friday night drinks as he so often does.
Mick turned up on his own.
Mike was there.
Steve and I got there late, which Gordon hates on drinks night.
Eve was there. So was Nick. Bruno and Murray were there too.
Owen said, “Don’t worry about her,” when I said, “Getting looks,” as he kissed us both hello.
“Come here you gorgeous thing,” said Gordon. I stepped towards him.
“Not you,” said Gordon. “You.” He wrapped his arms around Steve.
“Hey Gordon,” said Steve.
“And you,” said Gordon. He reached out for me.
“Gordon,” I said.
“Mick.”
“Steve.”
“Mike.”
“Josh.”
“Eve.”
“Bruno.”
“Murry.”
“Drinks for everyone,” said Gordon.
It was the first time we’d all seen Mick since the trouble with Rachel.
Gordon advised Mick to split from his girlfriend, Rachel, and embrace multiple sexual partners.
“We embrace multiple sexual partners,” said Murray.
“Everyone here does,” said Gordon.
“I know,” said Mick.
"Adultery is not mental disease but a very normal behaviour among humans," said Gordon, who proudly calls himself an atheist.
“Even the lesbians are doing,” said Steve.
"I encourage you to explore what more and more people are calling 'open relationships,' which means loving many people simultaneously and with no jealousy," said Gordon.
“We’ve always been open,” said Bruno.
Gordon was alluding to Mick’s apology to Rachel last week for his extramarital dalliances, promising to be a good boy. Gordon urged Mick to "stop making his life a model of guilt, sadness and conformism to antiquated Judeo-Christian values."
“Delusional, antiquated shit,” said Eve.
“Apart from anything else,” said Gordon. “It sets a bad example for the younger generation.”
“I think the younger generation are working it out,” said Mike.
Mick's announcement on Friday, in which he said he was undergoing therapy, were his first comments in nearly three months, since Rachel discovered his infidelity, which pushed Mick into self-imposed seclusion.
"The only person close to you who needs therapy is Rachel," said Gordon, saying Rachel welcomed Mick's partying ways with his gay mates, so long as he didn't engage in extramarital affairs with any women he might meet.
“But he’s so cute,” said Murray. He rubbed his hand around Mick’s chin.
"If she doesn't get therapy, you will be better off splitting with such a jealous partner to freely enjoy your sexual partners," Gordon added, encouraging Mick to explore such things.
“I could never be monogamous,” said Bruno.
“Isn’t it about agreements you make at the beginning of the relationship?” I said.
“That’s why I say monogamy is a bad example for the younger generation,” said Gordon. “It’s unnatural.”
“It’s about truth.”
“Yes, sure,” said Gordon. “And your truth is an open relationship, isn’t it?”
“Well, yes.”
“You’re not monogamous with this gorgeous boy.”
“No,” said Steve.
