Last Day

My last day at Hack Hack Dumfrey, how long have I been with these guys?

7 years, that is how long. That is a lot longer than the lawyers stay at a firm now a days. So, it had to be done.

Will Henry comes and shakes my hand and tells me it was an honour to work with me.

Grimace, a bit over the top.

So, I told him that if ever he was going to change teams, there was room on my team for him.

He looked a bit shocked. “You have always be funny, that’s what I’ll miss about you.”

“Will, I’m not joking, you’d make a great new team member.”

He laughed nervously.

Marco D’Souza came running in at the last minute in his running shorts and singlet and said he was sorry to see me go.

I told him, “I’ll always remember you like that.” Hairy chest. Great legs. Stupendous arse. He blushed. Then ran off giving me one last look at that incredibly butt of his.

Kelly George came and said good bye. “Good bye Grant, good luck with everything.”

“I won’t miss you, George.”

“Oh, come on, let’s not be like that.”

“What can I say, George, I can only tell the truth, unlike you.”

She hesitated, then nervously retreated. Burning bridges? Maybe. But, you know, one with no morals, will always take advantage of any given moment that may advantage them, no matter what has come before.

Partners Daniel Day and Jason Quinn, who always likes to get their clothes off during work functions, which is something I’ll miss, came and shook my hand.

“You will forever be thought of as a traitor, you know that, don’t you,” said Daniel Day.

“Are they the last encouraging words you have before I go?”

“No, these are, don’t come back looking for a job.” Then he shook my hand firmly.

“Don’t hesitate to come back,” said Jason Quinn. “There will always be a position here for you.”

“Thanks Jason.”

Kaye Marion, my personal assistant, all the time I have been a lawyer, had tears in her eyes as she said good bye.

“I will so miss you, my boy,” said Kaye. “Come here.” she wrapped her arms around me. “Look after yourself.”

“Quite possibly you are my best friend in the corporate world,” I said.

“And you mine,” she said.

At the end of the day, I packed up my stuff, and left the office for the last time. It was a weird feeling.
