What Did You Have To Tell Me?
I had told Steve that I had something to tell him, and he remembered it and wanted to know what it was.
“Okay come over tonight and we can talk about it.”
“Sure,” said Steve. He was right on time.
“Hi,” I said as I opened the door.
“Hi,” he said. There was suspicion in his voice, to be sure.
“You good?” I asked.
“Yep.” He was behind me as we walked to the kitchen. “I’m good.” We got to the kitchen. “So far.”
“Do you want coffee?”
Steve looked at me.
“Tea?”
Steve’s eyes narrowed.
“Wine?”
Steve’s head tilted.
“Me?” I smiled my cheekiest smile.
“You.” Steve said deadpan.
“You’ve got me…”
“Have I?”
“Yes.”
“So, what have you got to tell me, then?”
“What have I got to tell you?”
“Yes” said Steve. “What have you got to tell me.”
“Ask you.”
“Ask me?”
“Maybe tell…”
“Just say it!” Steve demanded.
“Well…”
“Wow this must be…”
“No, it’s not.”
“You don’t want to…”
I want to, with you. I’m really keen, on you. But…
“But?”
“But I don’t really believe in monogamy.”
“Really? That’s it?”
“I want to be the most important thing in your life, as you are the most important thing in my life. And you will always come first, as I would expect to come first in your life…”
“I agree.”
“But sometimes…”
“Sure.”
“If some guy wanted to get it on, and I was some where else doing something else, and you weren’t standing me up, and it wouldn’t affect me…”
“Sure.”
“Or together, we could do it together.”
“That could be hot.”
“But you’d always come first. If we were together, neither of us would be picking other guys up.”
“Yes.”
“You’d come home with me, as I would go home with you, if we were out together.”
“That’s what I want.”
“That’s what I want to.”
“Is that it?”
“Well, yes?”
“Fuck, that is a relief.”
“Okay come over tonight and we can talk about it.”
