The Gang To Dinner
Ben and Amy, Nick and his sister Ange, Mike, Murray and Bruno, Gordon and Owen, me and Daniel, the gang, all of them, were together for dinner last night.
Daniel, rather trashily arrive with Mike dressed in the same clothes he went out in on Friday night. He was unshaven, but showered and clearly feeling no pain. Mike looked like Mike, if a little flushed. He always has that strong silent he-man thing going on. Oh, you know, everybody falls for the Mike charm
I asked Mike out in the kitchen, later.
He laughed and said, "You've got to be kidding me, Josh."
That was definitely, you've got to be kidding if you think I am going to tell you, as opposed to, you've got to be kidding that anything happened between he and Daniel.
"What?"
"I'm telling you nothing."
"Hey bro," I said to Daniel as I sat next to him. It's true we have got into the habit of calling each other bro, don't know how that happened.
"Hey."
"How are you?"
"Yeah, good."
"Whatcha been up to."
He snorted through his nose. "What haven't I been up to."
"I haven't seen you since Friday."
"Oh yeah, I crashed at Mike's."
"Really?"
"Yeah, we took a skin full Friday night out, I can barely remember any of it now. Mike was all go go go. You know how he is."
"I know, how he is."
I couldn't read anything into that, except for the what haven't I been up to, remark. But he said that as a joke, normal Daniel, I know he was talking about the pills and powder. No, he was giving nothing away.
“I’m good.” Daniel smiled his normal, if tired, smile. Can’t read anything into that.
“That’s good.”
“Ben's changing law firms, with a big pay rise, so he's pleased.” He intimated that he and Amy have been out on the swingers scene picking up a second man for their bed.
“Amy was great. Her normal, happy, no nonsense self.” Although, she doesn't know that Ben tells me their dirty little secrets.
“Nothing more to report.”
"No mate, she'd only tell you the bits that involve you, naturally, anything else she keeps tight to her chest."
Gordon and Owen have just been on a fabulous holiday. Those two spend their days going on holidays. The two of them talked about the darling geriatric straight couples they had befriended on their just completed cruise.
Kill me now.
Murray chatted to Mike, as Bruno and I continued with our flirting, as the two of us always do. He's a fit boy that Bruno and we've nearly got to committing the dirty act twice, but both times he's backed out. It's probably best, as he and Murray are monogamous. And it's against gang rules to be sure, boyfriends are definitely off limits to other card holing gang members.
Nick and Ange, of course, held Court, each seeing who could out do the other, in that loud, spookily similar, way the two of them have. Taking over from each other, finishing each other’s sentences, laughing at the sheer audacity of the other, repeating what the other one has just said, sometimes the very next moment after they have said it, and laughing uproariously at the cleverness of the other one. They are like energiser bunnies with completely fowl, filthy mouths the two of them have when they get together.
