Chris Arrived At Full Speed

Chris arrived early, long before any of us got up.

“Come on! Come on! Up and at ‘em,” said Chris loudly.

“Oh Chris,” yelled Jed. Knock it off.”

“Hello! Hello!”

Gradually we all wandered out to the lounge room.

“Come on, come on, it is a beautiful day, everyone.”

“Shh,” said Jed.

“Shh,” said Murray.

“Morning Chris,” I said.

Trent made coffee.

I rolled joints.

Trent made us some snacks for breakfast.

We sat on the deck, a little lifeless.

Chris drove us to Bangalow for burgers for lunch. Oh, he is too good natured, and we do take advantage of his good nature, but it was just nice for the talking to stop while he drove. He’s got the best GPS, she literally sighs and says she will recalibrate when we didn’t take her directions.

We pretty much sat quietly and ate our food.

“You wouldn’t be dead for anything, now would you?” I said.

“What?” said Chris. “I don’t get it.”

Jed looked at me and smiled.

We came home and smoked a joint.

We went to Minyon Falls for the afternoon. Jed drove. Oh, I so hate what that single raised road with sheer drops off on either side does to my vertigo, but I close my eyes and we are through it in no time.

Jed cooked pumpkin soup and quiche for dinner. We bought pumpkin and cantaloupe from a driveway veggie stand on our way back from Minyon falls.

Murray and Bruno arrived home late looking tired, Bruno felt sick.
